The webcam can be built into your computer or can be the type that plugs in with a USB cable. IF YOU ARE USING NEW QUIZZES USE THE SECOND QUICK START GUIDE LINK.]<\/strong><\/mark><\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Then download and install LockDown Browser from this link: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.respondus.com\/lockdown\/download.php?id=237953368\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>http:\/\/www.respondus.com\/lockdown\/download.php?id=237953368<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">To ensure LockDown Browser and the webcam are set up properly, do the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Start LockDown Browser, log into <a href=\"https:\/\/canvas.csudh.edu\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>https:\/\/canvas.csudh.edu<\/strong><\/a>, and select this course.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Locate and select the <strong>Help Center<\/strong> button on the LockDown Browser toolbar.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Run the <strong>Webcam Check<\/strong> and, if necessary, resolve any issues.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Run the <strong>System &amp; Network Check<\/strong>. If a problem is indicated, see if a solution is provided in the Knowledge Base. Troubleshooting information can also be emailed to our institution&#8217;s help desk.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Exit the Help Center and locate the practice quiz named <mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\">[<strong>NOTE TO INSTRUCTOR: CREATE A BRIEF PRACTICE QUIZ AND INSERT NAME OF QUIZ HERE; IF NECESSARY, INCLUDE LOCATION OF QUIZ<\/strong>].<\/mark><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Upon completing and submitting the practice quiz, exit LockDown Browser.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">When taking an online exam that requires LockDown Browser and a webcam, remember the following guidelines:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Ensure you&#8217;re in a location where you won&#8217;t be interrupted<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Turn off all other devices (e.g. tablets, phones, second computers)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Clear your desk of all external materials not permitted \u2014 books, papers, other devices<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Remain at your computer for the duration of the test<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-medium-font-size\">If the computer or networking environment is different than what was tested above, repeat the Webcam and System checks prior to starting the test<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-medium-font-size\">To produce a good webcam video, do the following:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Avoid wearing baseball caps or hats with brims<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ensure your computer or tablet is on a firm surface (a desk or table) \u2014 not on your lap, a bed, or other surface that might move<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If using a built-in webcam, avoid tilting the screen after the webcam setup is complete<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Take the exam in a well-lit room and avoid backlighting, such as sitting with your back to a window<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Remember that LockDown Browser will prevent you from accessing other websites or applications; you will be unable to exit the test until all questions are completed and submitted.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Using LockDown Browser and a Webcam for Online Exams This course requires the use of LockDown Browser and a webcam for online exams.
